Before we meet...
Once we have been in contact, I will send you several forms to be completed prior to working together, including an intake form that will help me understand your goals and your identifying problems. Other forms to be completed prior to our first meeting include a consent form for treatment (I also always ask for verbal consent during the evaluation as well), HIPPA Notice of Privacy Practices, and a COVID release form.

During the evaluation...
During your initial consult, we will go over both the birth parent's and baby's health history, current feeding experience, and your desired breastfeeding goals. A physical assessment of birth parent's chest/breasts and infant's oral structural anatomy and oral motor skills will be conducted, as well as a physical assessment of the infant's tone and body symmetry. We will do a pre-feeding and post-feeding weigh-in, and I will observe, assess, and provide real-time support during a feed. We will work together to create a personalized care-plan to help you meet your goals, and I will communicate with your health care provider. I will also help refer you to other providers if necessary.

Remember, feeding goals can change and there are many different ways to help solve a breastfeeding problem. Our treatment plan can be flexible and fluid to help meet your needs.

This initial consult includes two weeks of standard follow-up care by phone, text, or email.
